How to stream correctly

Remember these do's and don'ts when you are streaming Louis' music on Spotify. It's very important to avoid bot behaviour so streams don't get detected as spam by Spotify.

Do's

  • Use focused streaming playlists, preferably those linked in this carrd.

  • Like (💚) all songs individually

  • Act like a human: pause, skip like 3 songs every hour, change playlists every 3 hours, search for songs, albums or playlists manually and take breaks. (Don’t take this too literally, please try to estimate how “human-like” your own Spotify behaviour is.)

  • Turn autoplay off. Open Spotify > Go to home > settings > playback > autoplay.

  • Use a premium account if possible, as paid streams count more. If you don't have premium, you can still use the playlists and stream! (Preferably on the desktop application so you won't have to shuffle)

  • There are several other artists included in the playlists, which helps with avoiding spam detection and the recommendation algorithm.

  • Go on with your day whilst streaming. Streaming is not some chore or a difficult obligation, and it shouldn't feel as one. Try to do what you normally do on a day, and most importantly enjoy the music!

Don'ts

  • Don't loop songs, albums, or playlists. Playling a song on repeat will result in the stream getting detected as spam.

  • Don't use autoplay.

  • Don't use the shuffle button. Both the repeat (🔁) and shuffle (🔀) button should be turned off.

  • Don't mute. The sound should be on, if you can't listen at the moment just plug in some earphones or put the volume on the lowest setting, but don't turn it off.

  • Don't use a vpn or apk.

How to organise your playlists:

  1. Download & open the Spotify application on a desktop

  2. Tap the ••• in the top left corner (with a MacBook you can skip this step)

  3. Choose file > new playlist folder

  4. Now you can find the folder in your playlists section. Right click to rename the folder, then drag your playlists to it, and now you have all your playlists organized in one place!

Apple Music Streaming Guide

Stream purchased songs from iTunes

  1. Open the Apple Music app

  2. Search for the purchased song

  3. Click and hold the song for dropdown options

  4. Select "Remove" and then "Delete From Library"

  5. Add the song to a playlist with 1-2 other songs in between

Stream using playlists

  • If the song wasn't bought on iTunes: search for it on Apple Music

  • Add it to a playlist with 1-2 other songs in between

  • Stream the playlists with sound on

*Purchased songs from iTunes do not count for streaming, unless they are deleted from the library and streamed directly from Apple Music

All tips regarding avoiding bot-behaviour that are applicable for streaming on Spotify are also applicable for streaming on Apple Music.

Youtube (Music) Streaming Guide

  • Open YouTube in a browser or download the app

  • Log in

  • Search for the music video manually - by typing "Louis Tomlinson (title track)" in the search bar

  • Click the video and play the whole video in 480p or higher quality

  • Don't mute the video sound, don't change the speed and turn off autoplay

  • Like the video after watching and leave relevant, positive comments

  • Watch 2-3 other video's (e.g. lyric video's from Louis' channel) before watching the same video again

  • Make sure you're subscribed to Louis' channel

  • Don't clear or pause your viewing history - YouTube uses it to count views

  • If you use a browser: don't use multiple tabs to watch the same video, instead use several browsers with only one tab
